Brazil ANVISA Proposes Key Amendments to General Food Labeling Regulations

Brazil’s draft amendment would add a formal quantitative ingredient declaration requirement when an ingredient is emphasized on-pack, including specific rules on calculation and display format.

The proposal would also regulate digital label information and introduce explicit on-pack and ingredient-list statements for foods treated by irradiation, including a prescribed principal-panel declaration.

On July 13, 2026, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) launched Public Consultation No. 1,400 of July 10, 2026, seeking comments on a draft resolution to amend Collegiate Board Resolution (RDC) No. 727 of July 1, 2022, on General Food Labelling. The proposal would introduce requirements for quantitative ingredient declarations, digital-label information and irradiated-food labelling. Comments are accepted for 90 days starting seven days after publication of the consultation.
