CFDA to Increase the Frequency of Food Sampling Inspection in 2016

On Feb. 3, 2016, China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) released the plan for food sampling inspection in 2016, which will cover 33 food categories with 1,293,300 batches of products, which is more than 6.5 times the inspection rate seen in 2015.

In 2015, CFDA conducted sampling inspection on 172,310 batches of food products with a pass rate of 96.8%. The main problems discovered during inspections in 2015 include over limit residues of pesticides and veterinary drugs, over limit and out-of-scope use of food additives, microbial contamination, heavy metal contamination, quality index dissatisfaction, etc.
