China Health Food: CFDA Releases Health Food Filing Guidance

• The detailed rules for health food filing application have been drafted, which specifies the filing procedure, dossier requirements, etc.

On Feb. 7, 2017, China CFDA drafted 2017 version of “Detailed Rules for Health Food Filing Application”, which will be open for public consultation ending on Feb. 28, 2017. This guidance mainly outlines the filing procedure, requirements for the filing dossiers for both domestic and imported health foods, etc.

This guidance is applicable to health foods that are required to be filed in accordance with Administrative Measures for Registration and Filing of Health Foods. As the first batch of approved health food raw materials has been finalized, it is announced by CFDA that health food filing application will start to be accepted from May 1, 2017 (see CL news report on Jan. 25, 2017).

Health food filing procedure:

The applicant should firstly register an account with CFDA to gain access to the online filing system (http://bjba.zybh.gov.cn). After filling out all the information required, the applicant will be informed to submit paper materials within 5 working days. The filing certificate will be issued on site if all the submitted dossiers are compliant with relevant requirements.
