On 20 Nov, 2014, AQSIQ announced that bird’s nest conforming to the Requirements of Inspection and Quarantine of Indonesia Bird’s Nest is allowed to be imported to China as a result of agreements reached between the competent authorities of China and Indonesia.
Registration Requirements of Swiftlet House and Processing Establishments
Swiftlet houses of Indonesian bird’s nest exported to China shall be registered with domestic competent authorities as well as file with Chinese authorities in advance. Processing establishments are required to conduct registration with CNCA, and raw materials used by these companies must come from their corresponding swiftlet houses registered with AQSIQ(refer to List of Registered Swiftlet House).
Requirements for the Establishment of Quality Management System
Indonesian authorities will maintain an epidemic prevention and hygienic management system. Processing Establishments are required to build internal tracking systems to ensure product traceability so that products can be recalled if problems occur.
Precautionary Requirements against Spread of Avian Flu Virus
Processing Establishments should be able to conduct hot work processing. All the bird’s nest products exported to China shall are required to have undergone hot treatment to prevent spread of avian flu virus.
Requirements for Quarantine Approval
Quarantine approval of each batch of imported bird’s nest (except highly processed products) shall be accomplished ahead of importation and the License for Quarantine of Entry Animals and Plants shall be attached to each batch.
Certification Requirement
The certificate of origin and veterinary certificate of exported bird’s nest shall be issued by Indonesian competent authorities to certify its conformity to Chinese laws, regulations and related standards. Besides, animal health status such as reports on avian flu shall be presented in the veterinary certificate.
Labeling Requirements
Both internal and external packages shall be clearly indicated in English and Chinese with information including product’s name, net weight, name of the swiftlet house and registration number, etc. Requirements in Chinese laws, regulations and standards shall be complied with.
