China State Administration for Market Regulation Makes Presence Felt

China’s newly formed market regulatory authority (primarily prepackaged finished products including food, drugs and cosmetics) made its first major announcement. The name of the new plan mentioned in the announcement translated directly from mandarin is the “3 stipulations scheme” which details the new regulatory authority’s organizational structure, staffing and functions. Infant formula registration and health food regulatory compliance requirements will remain unchanged in the short term.
On Apr. 10, 2018, State Administration for Market Regulation was formally recognized in Beijing. Later that afternoon, it made its first major announcement detailing reform plans and outlining new plans regarding supervision of drugs, foods, cosmetics etc.
