China: Use of Illegal Infant Formula Advertisement to Incur Heavy Fines

China’s new Advertisement Law will come into effect as of 1 Sep 2015. According to the Law use of advertisement claims for dairy products, beverages and other foods intended for infants as breast milk substitutes is forbidden.

Violations will incur heavy fines ranging from 200,000 to 1,000,000 RMB. The penalties are increased which will finally offer a prohibitively high financial disincentive for law breakers.
