FSSAI issued the final Food Safety and Standards (Alcoholic Beverages) Second Amendment Regulations, 2025, which will take effect on June 1, 2026. The amendment raises the maximum permitted ester level (expressed as ethyl acetate) for fruit wine other than grape wine from 0.2 g/L to 3.0 g/L of absolute alcohol.
