On 5 Jun 2015, Hong Kong SAR released the Legal Notice 106 of 2015 which officially announced the amendment of Imported Game, Meat and Poultry Regulations. The amended version will become effective on 5 Dec 2015.
Amended details are as follow:
Title: The title of the Regulations is revised to “Imported Game, Meat, Poultry and Eggs Regulations”.
Repealed Definitions: transshipment certificate, competent authority, country of origin, official certificate
Added Definitions: compounded food, egg, functional ingredient, health certificate, issuing entity, place of origin
It is obvious that the supervision of imported eggs will be enhanced upon implementation of the Regulations. In addition, health certificate will become essential for the importation of game, meat, poultry and eggs. Transitional arrangements were also included in the notice, notifying that pre-existing standards will still be applied before the 5th Dec 2015 whereupon new standards will officially come into effect.
