India FSSAI to Expand Scope of Imported Food Rectifiable Information

India FSSAI decided to expand the list of rectifiable labelling information for imported food.

In order to facilitate food importation and regulatory compliance, on 22nd May India FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) issued an order expanding the list of rectifiable labelling information of imported food.

According to the order, during inspection of imported goods by customs and quarantine officials at Indian ports, if some labeling information is found missing, rectification will be allowed after checking the compliance of relevant documents (ingredient list, invoices, analysis outcome, bill of entry, etc.). The rectification can be done for company address, lot/code/batch identification number, manufacturing date and additives declaration.

The order is effective immediately.
