Japan Extends FCM Transition to 2030 & Eases Testing

On February 13, 2026, the Consumer Affairs Agency, Japan (CAA), promulgated the "Partial Revision of the Standards and Specifications for Food, Additives, etc. (Handling of the Reorganization of Use-Specific Standards for Utensils and Packaging Materials)." This revision entails a review of the regulatory transition schedule under the Positive List System for Food Contact Materials (Synthetic Resin) and the addition of special measures at testing sites.
