Taiwan to Require Ten More Categories of Foods to Implement Traceability System

On June 8, 2015, Taiwan FDA announced another ten categories of foods that will be subject to its upcoming traceability system which will be implemented on July 31, 2015.

The ten categories of foods are:

  • Civil commodities (including soybean, wheat, corn, flour, starch, salt, and sugar)

  • Tea

  • Packaged tea beverage

  • Soybean products

Relevant traders should retain the product information, suppliers’ information (goods purchasing), product distribution materials (goods delivery), and internal tracing records in paper or electronically. Traders of these ten categories of foods as well as another nine industries (see Chemlinked news report on Feb.11, 2015) that have already implemented food traceability systems must submit the tracking and tracing information to the traceability management system before the 10th of each month. This requirement will be implemented in stages beginning Dec. 31, 2015.
