Taiwan Food and Drug Administration announced the industries required to establish a food tracing and tracking system on Oct. 27, 2014, including:
Edible oil
Processed meat products
Processed dairy products
Aquatic products
Foods contained in lunch boxes
Food additives
GMO food raw materials
Labeled GMO foods
Labeled non-GMO foods
The edible oil industry started to implement this system since Oct. 31, 2014, while the other eight industries are required to fulfill this obligation since Feb. 5, 2015.
It is estimated that more than 4,000 traders have been included into the food tracing and tracking system from Feb. 5, 2015. Relevant traders should keep the product information, suppliers’ information (goods purchasing), product distribution materials (goods delivery), and internal tracing records six months after the expiry date in paper or electronic form in accordance with Administrative Measures for Tracking and Tracing System of Food and Relevant Products released by TFDA on Nov. 19, 2013 (see Chemlinked News Report on Nov. 21, 2013).
