Takehome:
- The information required to be recorded when implementing food traceability is revised in Taiwan as well as the duration requirements for keeping relevant information.
On Jun. 8, 2016, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced the revision of “Administrative Measures for Tracking and Traceability System of Food and Food-related Products”, which amends the information requirements for the implementation of food traceability system.
19 food categories require implementation of food traceability system from Jul. 31, 2015 (see CL report on Jun. 12, 2015). After revision to the administrative measures the following information is required for traceability system:
- Raw material information (goods receiving)
- Product information
- Labels and symbols
- Product flow information (goods delivery)
- Other internal traceability information or records regarding product source and flow
Food manufacturers and traders are required to keep complete traceability information and records for not less than 5 years. A maximum fine of TWD 3 million will be imposed for any violations.
