Taiwan Updates Directions for Declaration of Inspection Information of Imported Foods and Related Products

Product Category

• Low-acid canned foods as defined in Appendix IV of the Regulations on Good Hygiene Practice for Food: Code 1

• Acidified canned foods as defined in Appendix IV of the Regulations on Good Hygiene Practice for Food: Code 2

• Ready-to-eat non-canned foods: Code 3

• Raw materials or final products processed by irradiation: Code 4

• Bulk vegetable oils transported in ISOTANKs, FLEXTANKs, FLEXBAGs, or directly loaded onto ships, requiring further refining to reduce glycidyl fatty acid esters: Code 5

• Products belonging to both Code 1 and Code 4: Code 6

• Products belonging to both Code 2 and Code 4: Code 7

• Products belonging to both Code 3 and Code 4: Code 8

• Other products: Code 9

Note: Products under Code 1 or Code 6 require sterilization levels through heat treatment; products under Code 2 or Code 7 must indicate final product pH values.

Product Specification

For products with containers or packaging, specify the quantity and net weight or dimensions within a single container or package (e.g., 20KG/BAG for food and food additives; length * width, 500PCE/CAS for food packaging). For products with food permit documents, the registered specifications may be used.

Product Ingredient

1. Food, Raw Material, and Additives

• If there are two or more ingredients, list them in descending   order of content

• For food additives, use the name specified in the Standards for Specification, Scope, Application and Limitation of Food Additives. For products containing two or more food additives, list each one

• For product combination in composite packaging, separately declare the ingredients, food additives, and place of origin of products in each package

2. Food Packaging

List the material name. If there are two or more materials, list each one

3. For products with food permit documents, the registered ingredient information may be used.

Attached Document Number

• Registration number of food business

• For food additive declaration, the product registration code must also be provided

• For cases utilizing electronic declaration measures, if food permit documents are attached, list the permit document numbers

• For import declarations categorized as D2/F2, provide the original import declaration number

• If the inspection case requires health certificates, origin certificates, or inspection reports as notified by the central competent   authority or inspection authority, list the document number if available

• For bulk vegetable oils transported in ISOTANKs, FLEXTANKs, FLEXBAGs, or directly loaded onto ships, if further refining to reduce glycidyl fatty acid esters is required, state "This product requires further refining to reduce Glycidyl fatty acid esters content, as detailed in the attached document, which is part of the declaration."

• For edible shellfish products under tariff code 0307, provide the fishing or farming area information consistent with the official certification of the exporting country

• For cases where the same documents have been uploaded in another case within the past five years and accepted as electronic declarations, list the declaration number of the other case to avoid re-uploading the same documents.
