In February 2026, the Thai FDA launched a public consultation on a comprehensive revision of the regulation on food containers, restructuring it by material type (metal, paper, ceramics, glass) and introducing significantly stricter chemical safety limits, including for heavy metals, BPA, epoxy derivatives, and PFAS, with phased transition periods.
On February 11, 2026, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) opened a public consultation regarding the comprehensive revision of the MOPH Notification No. 92 (B.E. 2528) Re: Prescription of Quality or Standard for Food Containers, Use of Food Containers, and Prohibition of Use of Things as Food Containers. The proposal seeks to modernize the decades-old regulation by aligning it with Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) and international benchmarks, such as ISO standards, Council of Europe (CoE) guidelines, and BfR guidelines.
