Thailand Proposes New Food Advertising Rules

Thailand FDA released a draft to overhaul food advertising rules, adding advertising and warning statement requirements for products containing cannabis, hemp, and kratom. Superlative claims such as “Best” and “Premium” which were previously prohibited, may now be used if they are substantiated with evidence and receive prior approval from the Thai FDA

On November 10, 2025, Thailand Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a draft notification regarding criteria for food advertising. The proposal introduces specific advertising guidelines for products containing cannabis, hemp, and kratom, as well as significantly revises the framework for making advertising claims. The agency has opened a public consultation period for stakeholders to provide feedback until November 28, 2025.
