Thailand Revises Food’s Labeling Requirements

The word “Premium” is prohibited from labeling on the food package, including pasteurized milk.

According to No. 433 and No. 434 announcements issued by Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) on May 27, 2022, Thailand repealed the MOPH notification No. 365 and No. 366. It means the word “Premium” is prohibited from using on the label of pasteurized cows’ milk, pasteurized full fat cows’ milk and other food products. These announcements came into effect since the date of promulgation.

With reference to the notification No. 365 and No. 366, the use of the word “Premium” is subject to the approval of Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA). To reduce enterprises’ burden of asking for permission, the competent authority repealed those two notifications. The food labeling should conform to Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No. 367) B.E. 2557 (2014) Re: Labeling of Food in Containers
