Thailand Unveils the Standard for Sweetened Condensed Milk

The standard for sweetened condensed milk specifies the product’s definition, classification, use of food additives, contaminant level, labeling, sampling and testing requirements.

As revealed by No. 6688, 6673 and 6676 announcements issued by Thailand Department of Industrial Works (DIW), three standards were published in Thailand, including:

  • Sweetened Condensed Milk

It specifies the product scope, definition and classification of sweetened condensed milk. Apart from that, the standard stipulates the list of permitted food additives, contaminant level, hygiene conditions, packaging, labeling requirements, sampling standards and testing requirements. This standard will come into effect after 120 days since its publication on governmental gazette.

  • Testing Method for Determination of Flatoxin B1, B2, G1, G2’s Value and Total Amount in Cereal and Nuts

It introduces High Performance Liquid Chromatography, which was effective since the date of promulgation on governmental gazette.

  • Testing Method for Determination of Lead Content in Animal and Vegetable Oils

It determines the lead content through Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry, which will take effect since the date of promulgation on governmental gazette.
