Pet food develops quickly in China. From 2016 to 2021, the annual registered imported feed rose from 82 to over 600 products.
Among all the registered pet feed, most of them are compound pet feed. This remarkable proportion is led by the large market demand.
Regarding the origin of these products, Canada, New Zealand and the US are the top 3 countries with the most registered pet feed products. The registration performance in Spain is also remarkable in 2021 with a fast growth rate.
MoARA Registration Analysis in 2022
As for the year-to-date registration performance, MoARA has approved the registration or renewal registration of 178 feed and feed additive products.
Approved pet feed products can be divided into four feed types:
compound feeds (a total of 165 products, 153 of which are newly approved, accounting for 93%),
feed additives (3, including 2 new product),
single feed (3, including 1 product applying for renewal registration), and
feed additives mixtures (7, including 2 products applying for renewal registration)
As for the classification by pet species, among the 165 pet compound feed products, 76 of them (46%) are designed for dogs and 89 (54%) for cats. Most approved dog feeds this year are from Canada (29%), the US (18%) and New Zealand (13%). Most approved cat feeds are from the US (34%), Canada (29%) and New Zealand (13%).
