As revealed by the official notice released on Feb. 21, 2022, China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MoARA) approved the registration or renewal registration of 126 feed and feed additive products from 52 firms. Among the 126 feed products, 78 of them are pet food (or called pet feed).
Involved pet feed products
Approved pet feed products announced by this notice can be divided into four feed types:
compound feeds (a total of 74 products, 66 of which are newly approved),
feed additives (2, including 1 new product),
single feed (1 product with renewal registration), and
feed additives mixtures (1 product with renewal registration)
As for the classification by pet species, among the 74 pet compound feed products, 38 of them (51%) are designed for dogs and 36 (49%) for cats. Most approved dog feeds are from Italy, Canada and Belgium. Most approved cat feeds are from Canada, Spain and the US.
