Canada Mandates Plastic Products Reporting for 2024-2026, Including Food Packaging

On April 20, 2024, the Canada Department of the Environment published a notice under subsection 46(1) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (hereafter as the Act), requiring comprehensive reporting from entities involved in the manufacturing or management of plastic resins and certain plastic products to the Federal Plastics Registry. Non-compliance with the Notice may result in penalties under the Act.

New Zealand’s Newly Revised MRLs for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals in 2024

On March 21, 2024, Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) of New Zealand issued Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds, replacing the previous version issued in December, 2023. The food notice sets new MRLs for Pydiflumetofen, and deletes Warfarin for any food, which comes into force immediately.

All New Zealand Dairy Products Exported to China Are Exempted from Tariff Since 2024

Canada Proposes to Modernize the Regulations for Foods for Special Dietary Use and Infant Foods

On November 28, 2023, Health Canada announced to seek public comments on a proposal to modernize the regulations for foods for special dietary use (FSDU) and infant foods, which are currently regulated by the Divisions 24 and 25 of the Food and Drug Regulations.
