MFDS published the Guideline on Designating and Canceling the Prohibited Ingredients of Directly Purchased Overseas Food Products. This guideline specifies the standards of prohibited ingredients in overseas food purchased by consumers online. Food companies are suggested to check if there are any forbidden materials in the products.

Indonesia Consults on the Supervision of Imported Food

On Nov. 12, 2021, to promote the international trade in the framework of Indonesia's National Single Window, Indonesia FDA (BPOM) opened the draft of "Supervision of the Importation of Drugs and Food into Indonesian Territory" for public feedback. Any opinion can be submitted either via email peredaranpangan@pom.go.id or by filling in the Google Form created by Indonesia FDA (BPOM) before Nov. 22, 2021.

[Update] SAMR to Further Standardize Infant Formula Labeling Requirements

Update: On Nov. 12, 2021, SAMR issued an official notice to approve the new supervision requirements of infant formula milk powder product labeling. The application of infant formula recipe registration shall be implemented according to this notice from Nov. 12, 2021. Products produced from Feb. 22, 2023 shall meet the labeling requirements of this notice, and products produced before Feb. 22, 2023 can be sold till the expiration date ends.

To help stakeholders better understand the new version of "Administrative Measures on Safety of Import and Export Food of the People's Republic of China" (Decree 249), which was issued on Apr. 13, 2021 and will take effect on Jan. 1, 2022, General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) released an official document on Nov. 10, 2021. The document addresses the background and necessity of the revision and provides the interpretations of each article in the Measures.
