CFDA Clarify Health Food Registration Certificate Renewal Stipulations

On 21st of March, China Food and Drug Administration replied to Guangdong FDA on the effectiveness of health food registration certificate during review period. It stated that if the candidate has applied for health food registration renewal no later than 6 months prior to the expiration of the valid period, the original registration certificate is still effective before the final decision unless the following 2 situations in “Health Food Registration Review Evaluation Work Order (2016 Edition)” appear:

1.There is no adequate evidence on the safety, health care function and quality controllability of the product applying for registration extension, or those items do not conformed to current regulations. The product was not manufactured and sold during the validity period, or the enterprise does not apply for registration renewal within time limit.

2.The product is eligible for filing.
