CFDA formulated Guidance on Technical Requirements for Raw Materials and Auxiliary Materials of Health Food Registration on December 2, 2013, and regulated the basic principles for the use of the Guidance. The Guidance includes the technical requirements for the following types of raw materials and auxiliary materials of health food registration: plain food, types of food additives commonly used in health food and the requirements for quality, types of vitamins and mineral substances used as nutrient supplements and the requirements for quality, other nutrition enhancers that can be used in health food and the requirements for quality, the materials that can be both used as food and medicine, the materials that can be used in health food (excluding ginseng fruit, red deer bone and bilberry), new food raw materials, raw materials of fungus and probiotics, and other raw materials commonly used in health food. The period of public consultation ends on December 20, 2013.
