[Updated] China Food Additives Updates in 2024: NHC Approved Eight New Food Additives

On December 13, 2024, China National Health Commission (NHC) approved eight new food additives. This approval list includes three enzyme preparations, one food spice, one nutritional fortification substance, two food additives with expanded usage scope and one nutritional fortification substance with expanded usage scope.

In China, one of the key compliance points for food import is that the food product only contains permitted food additives. In addition to permitted food additives listed in GB 2760, China National Health Commission (NHC) proposes and approves new food additives through separate notifications. This article tracks and collects the updates on China food additives in 2024, including newly approved and newly proposed ones.

On December 13, 2024, China National Health Commission (NHC) approved eight new food additives. This approval list includes three enzyme preparations, one food spice, one nutritional fortification substance, two food additives with expanded usage scope and one nutritional fortification substance with expanded usage scope.
