On Jun. 19, 2018, China GAC issued warnings on 239 enterprises engaged in food import business, including 78 importers, 82 overseas food manufacturers and 79 overseas exporters. All those enterprises listed are subject to more stringent supervision, such as additional testing/documentation requirements. The warning and associated rectification measures will not be removed unless enterprises meet corresponding requirements in Implementation Rules on Adverse Record Management of Imported Food.
A wide range of food categories are involved, including dairy products, complementary baby food, sports nutrition and wine. In terms of alerted overseas manufacturers this time, Japanese enterprises ranked top, representing 15.9% of the total, followed by Korea (8.5%), and USA (9.8%).
