In reference to No. 20 announcement issued by China MOARA, the labeling of domestic and imported pet food produced after Sep. 1st, 2019 shall comply with “China Pet Food Labeling Provisions”. However, considering the huge inventory of old packages and the financial loss the pending implementation of the regulation would bring to industry, MOARA announced on Sep. 2nd that it would extend a 6-months grace period to allow industry additional time to prepare for implementation of the new regulation. The labeling of domestic and imported pet feed manufactured after Sep. Mar. 1st, 2020 shall be compliant with the current regulation.
Prior to Mar. 1st, 2020, pet food products shall be attached with another label if the old label is still used, which shall indicate the following information:
The generic name in consistent with “China Pet Food Labeling Provisions” (click here to see the detailed)
Pet feed component analysis values required in “China Pet Food Labeling Provisions” while excluded in the old label. The completed component analysis values consist of following items:
Crude protein
Crude fat
Crude fiber
Water
Crude ash
Calcium
Total phosphorus
Water-soluble chloride (as Cl-)
Lysine, applicable to dog feed
Taurine, applicable to cat feed
The statement that “this product complies with the hygiene regulations on pet feeds”
Additionally, the attached label should be affixed to an obvious place on the original package, and the font size of generic name shall not be smaller than that of generic name and product name indicated in the original label.
