China’s most significant food additive standard “GB2760-2014 National Standard for Uses of Food Additives” was released on Dec. 24, 2014, and entered into force on May 24, 2015.
The new version of GB2760 has been implemented as scheduled. However, the implementation date for food additive labeling requirements has been extended. For foods produced before June 30, 2016, it is still permitted to use food additives labels which conform to GB2760-2011 which can continue to be sold within the shelf life. From June 30, 2016, food manufacturers must label food additives strictly in accordance with the provisions of GB2760-2014.
