NHFPC Promulgates Ten National Food Safety Standards

On December 31, 2013, NHFPC promulgated ten National Food Safety Standards (Draft for Comment) including Determination of Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic, Mercury, Chromium, Copper, Zinc and Nickel in Foods using inductive Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) as the analytical standard. The period for public consultation is until February 28, 2014.

These standards are formulated with reference to relevant domestic and foreign standards. Detailed information of the ten National Food Safety Standards is as follows:

Determination of Heterocyclic Amine in Foods Cooked under High Temperature

The maximum acceptable daily intake of heterocyclic amine is regulated by foreign countries: (microgram/day): MeIQx:0.41; MeIQ: 0.46; Glu-P-1:0.1; Glu-P-2 and IQ:0.5; AαC:2; MeAαC:0.6; Trp-P-1:0.03; Trp-P-2:0.2

Determination of Bisphenol A Migration in Food Contact Material Polyvinyl Chloride, Polycarbonate, Epoxy Resin and the Molded Articles

Relevant referential standard is GB/T 23296.16-2009.

Determination of Trans-fatty Acids in Foods

This standard replaces GB/T 22110-2008and GB/T 22507-2008.

Gamma Spectrometry Method for Analysis of Radionuclides in Foods

Relevant referential standards are GB 11713, GB 14882, GB 14883, GB/T 16145 and GB/T 16140.

Determination of Fluorine in Foods

This standard replaces GB/T5009.18-2003.

Determination of Synthetic Colorants in Foods

This standard replaces GB/T 5009.35-2003.

Determination of Potassium, Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc, Copper and Manganese-Inductive Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES)

This standard replaces GB/T23545-2009.

Determination of Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic, Mercury, Chromium, Copper, Zinc and Nickel in Foods-Inductive Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)

Relevant referential standards are GB/T 23374-2009, GB/T 23372-2009 and GB 5009.94-2012.

Determination of Allura Red in Foods

This standard replaces GB/T 5009.141-2003.

Determination of Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromide Ion, Nitrate and Sulfate Radical in Natural Mineral Water for Drinking

This standard replaces GB/T 5009.167-2003.
