Feb 20, 2024
On Feb 15, 2024, Macau SAR released the Food Additives Usage Standard in Food (hereafter referred to as the Standard), stipulating approved food additives, food categories permitted to be added with food additives, and maximum doses of food additives in specific food categories.

India announced to conduct PAN-India milk & milk products surveillance 2023. EU improved the regulation on food contaminant levels. UK published updated guidance for companies submitting EPR packaging data. US solicited comments for repealing titanium dioxide as a color additive in food. Canada updated guidance on Front-of-Package (FOP) nutrition labeling. Australia and New Zealand accepted the application of first whole GM fruit.

India checked the quality and safety of the nutraceuticals and health supplement products. EU proposed a directive on green claims. UK consulted on the application of precautionary allergen labeling (PAL). U.S. released a national strategy for safe & nutritious infant formula supply. Canada modified the List of Permitted Food Enzymes. Australia and New Zealand proposed to permit the use of a new food additive.

Japan revised the maximum residue limits for seven pesticides. Indonesia unveiled the List of Permitted Probiotic Microorganisms in Processed Food. India issued the revised guidelines for submission of applications for endorsement of vegan logo. EU proposed restricted uses of PFAS in applications including food contact materials. UK proposed the maximum residue levels for thiram and mefentrifluconazole in certain foods. US FDA released the draft guidance for plant-based milk alternatives. Canada updated the List of Permitted Food Additives. FSANZ consulted on three new food additives.

Macao Amends the Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food
Feb 15, 2023
On February 9, 2023, Executive Council of Macao SAR announced the finalization of the draft to amend the Administrative Regulation No 11/2020 Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food, in which the MRLs and EMRLs of pesticides in food were revised. The amendment was uploaded on February 13, 2023 with immediate effect.

Macau Draft Maximum Level for Heavy Metal Contamination in Food
Aug 28, 2018
Macau is to regulate five heavy metals in food, they are: arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, and tin. The new requirements are to be implemented the day after publication of the standard (Sep. 3, 2018).
