Takehome:
- The deadline for provision of supplementary documents required by authorities during nutrient supplement registration due to incomplete or incorrect data has been set as March 30th 2017. After this date all nutrient supplement registration applications which are eligible for product filing under new regulations must start a new filing application from scratch.
On Mar. 3, 2017, China CFDA announced the “Notification on Submitting Supplementary Documents for Nutrient Supplements”, offering a clarification on the filing approval procedure.
As notified previously, CFDA will start to accept health food filing applications for products which use raw materials included in the first batch of approved raw material directory from May 1st 2017 (see CL news report on Jan. 25, 2017). Before that date, all health foods have to go through a registration procedure according to Administrative Measures for Registration and Filing of Health Foods. According to the latest amendments to the health food filing regulation, nutrient supplements that are required to submit supplementary documents during the registration procedure due to incomplete or incorrect dossiers submitted must do so before Mar. 30, 2017. Otherwise, the applicant must start a new application according to the filing procedures. From now on all review opinions will be given in electronic format available to all applicants online.
