- China NHFPC released two batches of national food safety standards for establishment and revision, including important standards for infant formula, FSMPs, food additive, etc.
On Dec. 22, 2016, China NHFPC released the second batch of national food safety standards including newly established standards and revised standards. The first batch was released in Sep. 2016. A total of 104 food standards are included in the two batches, including the standards for food additives, nutrition fortification substances, infant formula, foods for special medical purpose, etc.
The NHFPC also announced that it has finished optimizing China’s food safety standard system through a process of consolidation, optimization, deletion and revision of approximately 5,000 food related national standards. After this process the NHFPC in conjunction with the CFDA and MOA released 926 national food safety standards. Another 130 food standards will be published at the end of 2016 which will complete China’s national food safety standard system. The new system will consist of close to 1,100 food standards that cover all food categories and major hazardous factors.
