CIQ Inspection Failures: 146 Batches Fail in June

In an AQSIQ regular press release on the 29th of Jul 2014, it was revealed that 146 batches of imported food failed CIQ inspection throughout June. AQSIQ officially explained that those unqualified foods were imported from 26 countries or regions and belonged to 16 different categories mainly consisting of biscuits, pastries, beverages and canned foods. The majority of failures can be attributed to microbial contamination, quality defects, incompliant labeling or certificates. Local CIQs have either withdrawn or destroyed incompliant products to avoid their inflow to the Chinese market.
