Japan CAA Revises the Labeling Requirements for Food for Special Dietary Uses

Products whose all properties are the same except flavors will be regarded as one type of food when it comes to the application of comprehensive nutritional food labeling. Those food are required to submit the quality control report of product designated by CAA every year.

Japan Consults on the Food and Drug Ingredients Distinguishing List

Japan Updates Food Composition Standard Tables

On December 25, 2020, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan released the amendment to the Standard Tables of Food Composition in Japan-(Eighth Revised Version) (from now on "Standard Tables"), which mainly subdivided the carbohydrates, changed the energy calculation method, and enriched the information on prepared food. Besides, the number of listed food has increased by 287, now amounting to 2,478.

Japanese New Food Labeling System Effective Since April 1, 2020
