China Consults on the Guideline for Organic Foods Certification Sampling

Application for organic certification will require sample products to undergo assessment. The sampling assessment consists of mandatory inspection items and optional ones. Organic dairy products will be assessed for antibiotics, synthetic antimicrobial agents, contaminants, mycotoxin and microorganism.

As specified in the Organic Product Certification Rules (News [1]; E-book [2]) released last year, certification agencies shall carry out the sampling inspection on products that apply for the organic certification. On June 24, 2020, SAMR disclosed six trial guidelines [3] for public feedback, which detailed the sampling items for the certification of six organic product categories. They are vegetables, fruits, teas, medicinal plants, dairy products, as well as livestock and poultry products. The sampling inspection mainly consists of mandatory inspection items and optional ones.

Here attached the mandatory inspection items of some key products. Any opinions shall be sent to [email protected] or [email protected] prior to July 31, 2020.
